About The Race

Join current students, alumni and friends for the reoccurring 5k run and one mile race event that is dedicated to ending the stigma around mental illness. It's vital to raise awareness about mental health issues and the challenges that are faced because of it.

The End The Stigma Race was started by a current occupational therapy student at Xavier University after their service learning experience at the Recovery Center of Hamilton County. It impacted them so much, they decided to take action to help End The Stigma surrounding mental illness and recovery.

As a result, the Recovery Center of Hamilton County is partnering up with Xavier University to host and sponsor the run. All proceeds raised from this event will go to the Recovery Center of Hamilton County and all the great work they do for the community.

Why Ending The Stigma matters

Ending the Stigma is an important step to helping others in their mental health recovery. The more we as a society disconnect ourselves from those who struggle the more ostracized they (we) feel. Raising awareness for mental health and wellness is critical for the individuals who have mental health struggles. The more we stand up and fight these stigmas the more we make a positive change for the ones who need it.

So help us End the Stigma by walking, or running, beside Xavier University and The Recovery Center of Hamilton County.

Together, our feet, minds, and hearts can take us to a better tomorrow.
